Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Toyota major mistake

Toyota needs to get rid of this system and reimburse everyone on a navigation system that works all of the time. So sorry I spent the extra money on this system. My free Waze is what Toyota needs or supports.

Abysmal

Since the developers at TeleNav dont know what theyre doing, I will share a solution that has worked for me when the app doesnt connect: 1. On your vehicles head unit, exit the app by going to your main screen. 2. Force quit the app on your phone. 3. Start the app on your vehicles head unit. 4. Start the app on your phone. When you start the app on your phone, if it goes to the black screen with the connect icons, force quit the app and open it on the phone again. If the app goes to the title screen that displays the app logo, version number, and safety warning, it should successfully connect to your phone in 15 seconds or so. I have been testing this method for a week and it works consistently. It seems that something doesnt always initialize correctly when the app is started on the phone. Hopefully the developers can figure it out instead of telling everyone to uninstall and reinstall the app. Ridiculous.

Worked for one day...

Bought my truck with the understanding that it came with the entune navigation/scout app. Worked one day before not being able to connect to my Tundra. Nice when it worked for one day. This is not user error....

What happened???

This app used to work! But now it has gone to hell in a hand bag!! I’ve deleted it and downloaded it and still not working!! Get it together!!!

Useless

This app is essentially useless with my car (2016 Toyota Camry). More and more it’s saying “Could not complete request. Please try again later.” Other times it says “Unable to load data.” Usually when I turn the car on my phone asks if I want to complete the request connecting to Scout and I say yes, but it makes no difference. Sometimes turning the car off and on works and Scout reconnects, but it’s not like you can do that while on the road. Then sometimes Scout works when first turning on her car, then loses contact while in the middle of a drive—not good when you’re trying to navigate somewhere. It is wholly unreliable and I’ve had to resort to using MapQuest, a similar, far superior app I trust. I would prefer to use this app as it works with my car and puts the map and directions on the dashboard screen, but have not been able to more than 3-4 times for nearly 2 years. Each time I see there’s an update for the app I’m hopeful, but thus far nothing has made Scout reliably functional. My Toyota dealership has not been able to find a problem as Scout does link sometimes, but not every time. FTR I had this problem with my old iPhone 6 and now on my current iPhone X. Deleting/reinstalling the app makes no difference. I really wish we could just have MapQuest or some other app with the car—this one is a mess.

Garbage

This is the worst system Toyota ever installed in there vehicles. I have this on a 2018 Camry XLS. Get it going, and boom moving 65 miles it dies out when you get close to where you want to go. Have to start all over. It did it 3 time on a 30 mile trip. 3 days in a row on 3 different trips. Total of 18 times. Not dependable at. I’d give it a minus 10 if I could.

Not Working

Bought new 2018 Lexus ES350. Dealer could not get it to work. No connection. Yesterday it suddenly worked. Today not so much. Sometimes message ‘Try again later ‘. What does that mean??? I think it would be nice if it worked. I have an iPhone 6, latest version of ios.

Toyota should be ashamed

This is Toyotas answer to no built in navigation?!? It’s HORRIBLE. Setup was a pain. I just want to see a map... that’s it. Nope, “search” “favorite” “recent”. This was someone’s bright idea for what? Safety? Cost? I’ll stick to Waze and Google Maps and look at me phone.

Completely Useless

Never connects correctly to my 2018 Toyota Camry. The navigation it slow and wonky, and drops randomly, but usually when you need it to be working most.

Drops connection

So your going down the road with god map working and your iPhone goes to sleep scout then loses connection and will only restart if you untether the phone. Very distracting and dangerous Also for the first five minutes it thought I was 30 miles from my actual location so directions were useless. I would rate 0 stats but that isn’t an option.

Crappy but no choice.

It’s easier to connect to my phone map app and use it then this. Hardly ever connects phone to car navigation. So it makes my car navigation worthless.

Doesn’t even install

Downloaded, followed the instructions, the app is supposed to pop-up an install prompt on the vehicle. That never happened. After multiple install and removals nothing happens. Sticking to google maps.

Wish I had my Garmin back

I’ve tried to use Scout for 3 weeks. It has taken me to the wrong place 3 times, making me late for appts. I’ll go buy another Garmin. Toyota needs to fix this or I won’t lease another one in 3 years.

Terrible

Not dependable. Constantly terminates the connection, can’t find the cars wi fi .This is a serious flaw for a program to assist you in reaching a destination. Is it a soft wear problem or a Lexus problem? I don’t know. Does not matter, the program is a failure .

Toyota Cheaped Out

Toyota has disappointed me with the Scout GPS application. The Scout app does not have a setting to view maps while providing location. Defeats the purpose of a map navigation. This is only an app with turn by turn. I wish there was an option for Google maps at least.

*does not work

Brand new Toyota Tundra, brand new iPhone X and it does not work. Horrible interface, never connects.. basically paid for garbage. This system is unbelievably bad! Be aware! Not resolution offered by Toyota or Telenav the makers of this app. CLASS ACTION.

App. Needs Work

As an every day driving app. Gets .01% of a star if your using with your factory radio. If your vehicle GPS requires the use of the app. Don’t download it!!!

Horrible System

I have a 2017 Rav4 and the app won’t connect to my car unless i mess with it for 30 minutes. super glitchy too and often off estimates time. plus i have to sign in every time i get on the app.

Do not download

Up until about a week ago, the app was “just ok”... Now, it’s horrible! I have a Tundra and this app WILL NOT connect no matter what I do. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded 3 times and still will not connect. This app is pure crap. Don’t waste your time.
