Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Poor App

App is hit and miss as to whether it will connect or stay connected. Stops working often... give us a NAV that works on a consistent basis.

Rarely connects

I have a 2017 Lexus NX 200t. The app would connect a few times with my iPhone 6. It has only connected once with my iPhone 8. I know it’s set up correctly because it did work once. This app is worthless!

All of us unsatisfied buyers of Toyota and Lexus should be thinking class action suit if the can't fix this junk GPS app.

Not a fan

Slow, clunky and not too reliable in my opinion. Hopefully, it’s just me. Stuck with this because of Toyota. Developer has reached out to me.

Poor

When used on with my 2016 tundra waze or any gps less than 50 years old is better than this app.

Terrible.

Terrible and frustrating app. Just don’t use it. Not worth your time or frustration.

Doesn’t connect Scout

I would rate this app a zero, but one star is the minimum. It NEVER connects and is totally, absolutely, unequivocally Pooh Pooh. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it and still doesn’t connect. I had an iPhone 6 with the connectivity issue, I now have an iPhone X and same thing.

Beyond Lackluster

The fact that a company such as Telenav believes that this is a modern, up to date, piece of software is laughable at best. This is more along the lines of the “navigation” “app” that came on Verizon Wireless Flip Phones circa 10 years ago. It’s the gps app so bad, you have to type the entire name into search, and then press search. I mean come on, it’s not like Telenav is two guys in an apartment, how is it that this app can barely meet its own expectations of what it can do? Pathetic. Please patch... or go die in a corner already. Google, Apple, Here, Bing, Waze, and the like have won, you have lost. I’d give you directions to the graveyard, but you’ll have to use a navigation app that can pronounce street names and give you on-the-fly traffic updates and re-routes if you’re going to make it before dropping dead. And you know what? I get that part of the maps issue is on Apple, but I sincerely do not believe for a second that it is the main issue, as lighting peripherals still work on iOS 11.2 and up.

Will not connect

Always says can’t find device... takes forever I just give up

Worst gps app ever!!!!

This seemed like a good idea when the Lexus dealer told me about it but it is almost worthless. It can’t understand what you are saying when you say an address, it doesn’t sync with the car all the time, it is inaccurate with directions. I can’t say anything good about it. And Lexus wants us to pay after a year of free service! They can keep their Scout. I won’t even use it for free.

Horrible and 98% do not work!

This is the most frustrating navigation app I’ve ever used! It needs to have major updates or take off line until it can. My Apple and Google navigation works better! This app will leave you without directions at any moment. Uninstalling after the review...What a disappointment.

Failure to connect

This is very disappointing to have this issue of the app not connecting to the vehicle. It is unfortunate that this company has failed to research and correct the problem of not connecting with the vehicle. Spoke to a technician from the dealer and stated that the app was the problem not the vehicle’s ability to connect with the app. For all you app developers of this app do everyone a favor and fix the issue, if money is the problem at least make it work flawlessly and charge for the app. As long as it works, that’s usually where the problem is “money”. Given the opportunity to have your app put into some of this high end class vehicles would mean a lot for the car owner. Again take the time to research the issue and fix it for of us. Thank you.

Warning

Warning before you buy a Toyota! I was told by 2 dealerships that Scout was a seamless and excellent GPS. The problem is, you cant try it with your phone before you buy the vehicle. It doesnt work. Its like trying to get wifi on a 1980s Casio watch. I cant believe that an amazing company like Toyota would put such a horrible feature in a $40,000+ vehicle. Worst part is they dont have an update to change the system to an actual GPS system. My 2012 BMW had a million times better GPS than my 2016 Tundra. Sad.

Sal Yanez

This review is directed to Sal Yanez. Mr Yanez I keep reading that you appreciate every ones feedback on this worthless app. My question is what are you doing about it? Ok so just did the update. It’s still junk. Keeps saying I’m on one street when I’m actually on another. On freeways it just shows I’m on random streets. Jesus can this get any worse? So I did the latest iOS update yesterday and this app has improved but still buggy. Was able to actually use it yesterday. It froze once and it still lags so I’m hoping this is a step in the right direction.

Disappointing App

Never works very hard to deal with not practical app So disappointing

BAD Beyond description.

Just bought a 2018 top of the line Camry XSE V6 $40K I want to return it due to the laughable SCOUT GPS. Toyota should have said they included a foldable map in the glove box instead of advertising the car having a GPS. Terrible, useless and a true safety hazard trying to determine where it’s trying to direct you to go.

Disappointed

I have do everything I was instructed to, at least (6) six times. The app will not work with my vehicle although it is recommended by the Manufacturer!! Toyota should have tested it first! $40 grand for a car that the best they can do for GPS is an app that doesn’t work.

Scout GPS STINkS!!!!

This is for my 2016 Avalon (was brand new) and it worked great at first. Not sure if app changed, but the service stinks now. The majority of the tume I cannot connect to it and continually have to restart car app and app on my phone. Buting a stand onle GPS Navigational device due to this. Dealership or Toyota do not care it has these issues. They do not care to be troubled with this!

Garbage

Basura de gps

Disappointed

I absolutely don’t like this. It sometimes connects, but I lose it pretty quickly. I prefer older versions and wish Apps were a option!! You have totally left out your older buyers!!

Bad app in Toyota

It’s useless, just purchased new rav4 doesn’t work with my I ? phone, don’t buy a car with this app if you are an I phone user, was told problem with Apple and toyota, upset wondering if it can be replace with a different app that works, wish I knew this b4 purchase would not have purchased
