Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Doesn’t work with Apple phone

Can’t get map from phone to screen which is an important feature for me. Scout says they are waiting for Apple. Apparently they don’t have much clout with Apple as the problem is a couple months old. Their response to me was that they are basically helpless to do anything about the problem until Apple decides to work on it—if they decide to work on it. Emailed Toyota customer service but got no response. I agree with the reviewer who thinks a class action lawsuit is a good idea. I imagine Toyota is thinking about suing Scout and Apple, but whatever the case they should be reimbursing customers.

2018 Beautiful Tundra with a useless app!

Wow. This has got to be the worst app ever created. Appears to have been programmed on an old TRS80. Actually a green screen and a prompt would be more user friendly. So glitchy, it sometimes works. When it does work it will give you routes that make no sense. The map screen is horrible. My Garmin will still have to be placed on the windshield. With a world of Garmin, Tom Tom and Google why did Toyota go with such a rudimentary, glitchy app. Love my truck hate the app. Easiest way to describe it... my truck is a supermodel with a festering pimple on her forehead!

Scout GPS

Very inconsistent ! Easier to stick with Google. Glad I didn’t pay for this. This is something Lexus has to work on for sure.

Entune and scout.. an unmitigated disaster for Toyota. Shame on you

If I could give it -0 stars I would. Can’t tell how many hours I and the dealer have spent trying to make this work on our 2018 Camry.. no USB and flakey functionality. Get some random 12 year old to fix this for you guys. Geez.

Scout App by Toyota

The absolute worst.

Garbage. Shame on Toyota

Annoying, gratuitous “developer response”. Been there, done that, repeatedly. You know what’s wrong. FIX IT! STILL GARBAGE. NO APOLOGIES AND NOT A HINT OF ATTEMPTING A FIX. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU. As with many others I was duped by the expectation of a normal reliable navigation system in my new 2018 Toyota Camry hybrid. Their Scout/Entune system, the ONLY system available even in the top-of-the-line 2018 Camry hybrid and only as part of a $1800 option package, is unreliable, cuts out, and is unsafe at any speed—it’s probably now a blessing that it’s now suddenly incompatible with Apple software. ALL the complaints on this board are accurate. Deserves a Zero Rating.

⚠️Login UPDATED REVIEW⚠️

Every time I start my car and Entune is allowed I have to manually go into Scout and log in. It’s just easier to just hit Google maps. SCOUT sent a supposed fix. Followed the instructions and it worked ONLY ONCE? ⚠️WARNING⚠️ App doesn’t work

Doesn’t work on 2018 Toyota Camry

I’ve installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, read the previous reviews and hints and this app doesn’t work! No map on my car screen either, even after trying what a previous reviewer suggested. I have now uninstalled the app permanently. I have bought a Garmin dash-mount GPS. Would suggest everyone do the same. Of course the problem is that you bought the vehicle thinking it had navigation and it doesn’t. Toyota needs to compensate their buyers. We will be buying an SUV this spring or summer to replace our current one and it needs to have a working navigation for our travels. Guess what we will not be looking at . . . Toyota.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth will not connect to my 2016 4Runner.

Awful

This app is terrible and not worth the effort. I have given it a try for over a year and it just gets worse with every update. Toyota should be ashamed to offer this in their vehicles.

Still the WORST !!!!!

I’ve already posted one negative review of this truly awful app that Toyota decided to foist on its customers. But nothing has changed since then. A recent reviewer said that the Scout nav system was reminiscent of a high school project - I would only add that perhaps junior high would be a better fit. Another reviewer suggested a class-action - count me in. Was this not tested by Toyota or Lexus prior to roll-out? And from what I’ve heard they expect us to pay for this pathetic system next year. I see there are now some “Developer Responses” - but no fixes. I love my new Camry - I HATE this system. And when it comes time to buy another vehicle it most certainly will not be another Toyota. What a shame - and what an embarrassment for Toyota.

Would be good but...

If Toyota is going to force us to use this app the least it could provide is an automatic sign on feature. The constant having to sign in is annoying. PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Terrible system. Feel like I wasted my money by purchasing an upgrade to get the navigation system. Thinking of starting a class action against Toyota and getting a rebate.

Terrible.

Stopped working. I don’t want to hear a computer message saying contact Toyota. Fix it!!! This was a selling point on my tundra. Will effect future purchases.

Only turn by turn

Voice command is horrible and frustrating. iPhone is badly supported for vehicle voice commands. Will only read text, but can not reply via voice. Would prefer to display a map with current location, and while navigating

Worthless

It doesn’t work with my iPhone. Very disappointing. The first time I tried to use it I was directed to turn the wrong way in a one way street. Also, my home street name was changed about twenty years ago. The app still lists my street with the old name. It needs to be up to date or I can’t trust it!

Not a well written app

It’s clunky. Slow user interface. If I plug my iPhone into the usb plug to charge my phone the navigation app will not work. I navigate to new locations as many as 4 times per day. This app is not very good. I haven’t been able to use the navigation feature for 4 months.

Horrendous app!

This app is worthless. It rarely connects to my Toyota, and it keeps logging me out. I have to renter my Login info every time I start the car. I just stopped using it and switched back to Waze.

Hate it

It never wks right I have to constantly log back in!
