Constantly freezes up. few times experienced force shut downs right in the middle of route. Tried to restore connection between app and car but it didnt work. Very slow to recalculate new route. Doesnt actually show you MAP. You have to cruise down the street looking for street signs because it only has written directions without visual aids-maps. Traffic add on is impossible to figure out. Missing all the extra apps that ENTUNE had. Absolutely terrible, at this point I miss ENTUNE which wasnt that great to begin with.
Scout GPS Link App Reviews
You get what you pay for...and thats ok!
I got this when I bought my RAV4. I chose it in lieu of the full-fledged navigation package for hundreds of dollars. No, it doesnt have a lot of the features of the full-blown dealer-installed systems but ITS FREE!!! For someone like me who only needs it occasionally, its fine. Do I miss the isometric map view? A little. Do I miss being able to enter a destination by voice? A little. But these are the sacrifices Im willing to make in return for keeping my lease payments down. In terms if reliability, I have not experienced the issues others have described with the phone disconnecting from the car.
Poor!
I have Tundra love the truck! Was excited to find out it had Nav system! Wow what a disappointment! Overall very poor GPS system/app. Extremely slow, not even up to date! If I didnt have it in the vehicle (Toyota) I wouldnt even you it! Toyota needs to step up and either upgrade Nav or I dont just fix the darn thing!
So-so
Not the greatest by any means, you get minimal at best... Would be nice if they had a Google map app instead.
Worst piece of garbage
After numerous attempts, could not get the app to connect to 2016 Toyota Prius with Entune + nav system. All other Entune apps work correctly.
Pretty Solid
After reading the reviews... I was very skeptical. After using it a few times, I was impressed. Dont be confused, its not an in dash navigation that manufactures have in new cars... But for me, I would rather NOT have a dash nav. They get outdated quickly and is a pain to update at the dealership. After the last update... The app now says street names and indicates how many miles is up upcoming turn. My only issue while using the app in my truck... The map is small while looking at the dashboard. But overall, cannot complain.
When they say GPS, you get like "wow"
But not true! Why did they make something like this? They should upgrade it to something more modern and easier. I only used the GPS once, because it didnt take me where it should have, I knew where i was going and how to get there, but to try the GPS i started it... Guess what?! It took me to the back of the house where i was going! The backyard of this house is on a busy street (which has a different street name from where i was going) but address is another one... So, i was like "this GPS took me to a wrong place" ... If i didnt know where i was going, id never ever get there, because from the backyard to get to the front of the house, i still have to drive 4 blocks! Making turns! Since then, i never used this GPS anymore, i have an iPhone, which i love the GPS from it, thats what i use! Toyota should use a similar or better quality of technology!
Useless. Avoid. Shame on Toyota.
I just picked up my new Toyota Tacoma today and the sales rep helped me to link this app for navigation. It is completely useless. THERE IS NO MAP!!! I am in sales, and I spend my days driving to appointments at new addresses. The only thing the display shows his turn by turn instructions, with no map. I couldnt even mute the voice. This app is going backwards with the amazing technology we have today. What a huge letdown from Toyota. So I will never use it, and Im going back to my suction cup to the windshield Garmin with the unsightly wire connecting it to the cigarette lighter. Toyota gets an F in this major blunder.
Five stars
Connected to my car, cool
Don’t buy a Toyota if you care about GPS
I bought a Tundra. I love my Tundra. I’d buy it again because it doesn’t really have any competition for what I needed in a truck at that price point. That being said every other model of Toyota has good competitors that do the same thing. This app is complete GARBAGE in every way shape and form. My first in car navigation system was a 2004 Acura TL. That system that is 12 years older than my brand new Tundra is better in every way. 1) The voice recognition for the app is the worst I’ve ever seen. Total trash. My 2004 Acura TL was 10 times better. 2) The on screen controls are terrible and mostly useless. Even if you have a passenger to operate the thing you pretty much can’t do anything if you’re moving. My 2004 Acura TL once again crushes this thing. 3) It’s buggy and unreliable in general—the app will crash on the phone or crash on the car and then you have to relaunch everything to get it going again. My 2004 Acura TL navi just worked. So the story is don’t buy a Toyota if you care about GPS unless you need the towing capacity of a Tundra like I did and you don’t want to pay $20k more for a diesel. Will be buying a Garmin and setting it on the dash because it will just work. GARBAGE Toyota, just GARBAGE. I seriously can’t believe that you thought this was a good plan.
Toyota needs to use a different GPS app
Doesnt just show maps. You must have a destination. Not very user-friendly.
Needs work
This app syncd effortlessly to my 2016 RAV4 Entune Audio Plus. However, it works like the first generation GPS systems. It would be so much better if it worked on Entune the way it does on the phone. It only shows you possible routes. It does not show traffic, and because there is no traffic, it does not show real time travel. Today it said I would take 25 minutes to my destination. It took closer to 90 minutes, and there were 2 accidents on my route. Please update with traffic, real time travel, and similar to what is on the phone. Lots of potential, but missed the mark.
HORRIBLE!
I just started using this and I agree that its the worst. NOT user friendly at all. No real time visual road progression as youre driving like most GPS units. Doesnt display the exit sign number. Locks you out of the app on the phone until you disconnect. No traffic info. No construction info or warnings. Wouldnt let you request a detour to surface streets, or use alternate routes. Thanks a lot Toyota.
Disappointed
I would rather ask a convenient store clerk for directions.
Pretty dissapointed in this
2016 Tacoma is great. This is junk. Installed and after week we have yet to be able to get it to undetstand a command. And that is reading the samples it gives you. All we get is "sorry I did not get that". Garbage
Trash
Brand new Highlander that I love. This app is horrendous. 0 stars if I could. Only reason I will replace the in-dash is this horrible excuse for a Nav app. Cant have the map up with out getting turn by turn Cant turn off navigation voice. REALLY annoying.
Bad app
Bought a 2016 Tacoma installed the app and it worked great. Upgraded my phone and now it will not link. I had the dealership work on my truck and Apple work on my phone still nothing. So disappointed!!
