Scout GPS Link App Reviews

They took a step back with this...

Hey Toyota / Scout, you got this all wrong. Why cant I just have a map up to see where I am while driving? Additionally, the default should be an overhead of where you are going, not graphics giving turn x turn. Hoping you figure it out. Otherwise its a waste and Ill continue to figure out a hack to allow Waze or Google maps to display on screen or via my iPhone. Finally, a 10 min car ride should not take 38% of my iPhones battery charge. That is just ridiculous. Poor... Just poor. Swing and a miss Toyota/Scout.

Why won't this thing ever work! This is horrible! HORRIBLE! I have not been able to get it to work once since I have had my 2017 Camry XS for a month I miss my 2016 Hyundai Sonata that had all the bells and whistles for the same price REAL navigation and all.

What a joke!!

This app is totally useless. No map. Directions given in competition with radio. This is Toyotas idea of cost cutting.

This was a bad choice for Toyota

This was Toyotas answer to Apple Car play. They didnt want to use Apple car play, even though car dealerships are reporting that people are requesting it for their new vehicles of other brands. This app is garbage! Toyota stop penny pinching and make it right.

Fix it!!! Go to Garmin app

Not at all happy with this app. Why didnt they put the Garmin app in the vehicle. This is the worst app, slowest loading thing I have ever used. Toyota missed it big time with this. Drastically need to send out update to fix this issue. NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful

Wish they wouldnt have put this in the tundra. System is so bad it takes away from all the good in the truck... Navigation on this app is essentially worthless

I wish it had the features of the stand-alone app

The app does bare bones navigation but lacks most functionality any other GPS app like the stand-alone scout app. If you are coming from that app and expect to have similar functionality linked to your Toyota, you will be disappointed. -It does not always offer route options. When it does offer options, it does work well. -It looses lots of functionality once connected to vehicle, such as notification of arrival time which is available in stand-alone scout app. -does not stay connect to scout network so sending eta with link for recipient to track is useless. Another feature in the stand-alone scout app.

Disappointed

So bad with the car , needs to update the car function sooon!

Useless application

Awful Application. If Toyota continues to rely on this and dont fix it they will lose customers ----because this program is the worst.

Worst App Ever

Can get it connected to car. Can not even get the app to work, frozen screen. Ive deleted and reinstalled still no luck! This was frustrating while trying to travel!!!

Needs work

I liked the idea of having navigation in my new car using my phone, however, I am very disappointed. The address database is not up to date. Also, I find it extremely distracting trying to read the written directions while driving. The app needs an updated database as well as a map display for navigation. Ideally, Id like the app to mirror Google maps or Waze.

Horrible

This is horrible, Toyota needs to change this immediately

Awful!!!

I have tried using this app 4 times now and its 0/4 on getting me to the correct location. It crashes, lags and disconnects frequently. Super glad I bought a 30k truck with this garbage nav system.

To much control requested

Why is it the app needs to have access to my GPS location when Im not using the app. Just a waste of resources. Deleting.

No "While Using the App" location services option

Is it possible to give an app 1/2 of a star? So many apps have a "While Using the App" location services option--why doesnt this one?! I dont want it always tracking me [particularly with Scout GPS horrendous "privacy" agreement clauses]. And it is annoying to have to go into settings to turn location services on and off each time. Intrusive policies + bad design = awful.

Cant use phone app once Bluetooth connects

The phone app is completely disabled once Bluetooth connects. The car app doesnt allow entering an address and there is no way to pan or zoom.

So far so bad!!

App will not install into the Entune app suite in my 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

Nothing but problems

Poorly written, very unstable. Crashes a LOT, slow.

Not impressed. Hoping for a major software update/overhaul

Not as user friendly as hoped. It would be nice to have a live map in which you do not need to enter a search.

Worthless Non Value Added POS

You are better off buying a $25 GPS from Walmart... Who is the marketing idiot who thought any new car should have this... Completely worthless...

Not up to Toyota standards

I have to agree with most other reviewers who say this app stinks. Definitely inferior to my basic Garmin gps. Most annoying thing about it is the incessant rerouting while en route. Its almost as if the app is suffering from a seizure when it reroutes 5,6,7 times in a row for no particular reason, and then finally returns to the original route. Should come with this disclaimer: "Warning: Driver must absolutely know where s/he is going before listening to these directions. Otherwise, fatality may occur." What gives? Cant Toyota get a Garmin app?
