Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Worst GPS I have ever used

This App is really terrible. The first 2 days that I used it, this is what happened: Voice Nav tells you to turn. Screen shows turn 1/2 block away Told me to turn down a one way Street. When I didnt, re-routing got me lost Screen got stuck at my start point and did not give me directions as I drove. Had to pull over and reset Voice is too low. Can barely hear it if quiet in the Car Doesnt lower the music when giving directions, so you cant hear it at all if listening to music. If you lower music volume, GPS voice lowers too The visuals are terrible. If you are on a local road, it doesnt show streets, only Giant Arrows for your turns. When you get on the Highway, the App switches to a view of the Highway as seen from the International Space Station. Both worthless. App is totally useless. Thanks for recommending it Toyota, nice job being clueless

RAV4

New release no longer links to my car. Rather Toyota used something reputable like Google Maps!

Are you trying to get us to buy a new Camry to get full experience?

Updated for 2018 Camry! Interactive map! Get full experience of the app for just $23,500! Lols. The delay is so bad dont even try to follow its instruction. I doubt it will get much better with the newest Camry. Theres no dynamic map display, nothing. Slow and clunky and inaccurate. Cant even save map for later. Just use whatever nav of your choice on your phone. And dont forget to delete the app to prevent it from asking for permission every time.

Toyota...Really

Cant believe Toyota would accept being associated with this app. It is completely useless!!! Please fix. This would be great functionality if it worked reliably.

Failed

Navigation is a must in my line of work and this one I useless! Need to my iPhone! Very disappointed!!

Oh boy!

This has to be the worst app ever. Toyota please hear the cries of your customers.

Toyota Picked a Loser

This app replaces Toyotas Entune nav-map for the 2017 Corolla which was much nicer even though it had limitations. No compass. No general map view. Does not provide traffic unless youve engage a route. How can you avoid traffic if you cant see it before you hit the congestion? We are forced to use this app. If there was a choice, I would almost choose nothing.

Never allowed me to sync with car

Not sure why Toyota is recreating the wheel. Apple car play is better and it actually works. This app never synced with my car, wasted a ton of time trying. Funny thing is its not that good to start with.

Just Horrible

The data & battery usage is ridiculous. App has to be on all the time--all or nothing, no only while in use option. GPS is a joke. It will say unknown street exit, tell me to turn when it shouldnt. The map view is horrible. It shows exactly the turn or the entire route--no option to zoom in or out to see where you are. I feel like this app uses technology from 20 years ago. I am extremely disappointed in Toyota for allowing such outdated and poor technology. I really cannot think of a single good thing about this app.

Worthless

This came with my 2017 RX 350 Lexus. It is worthless.

Horror

Terrible execution of the application

Only works a quarter of the time

I see all these reviews where Toyota a replicable company has such a terrible app like Scout. I have to be another one with the same comment. And why this issue isnt fixed or why Toyota doesnt give you the same GPS in all the vehicles makes 0 sense.

Like this app

Although it does zap the battery life, I like the format on the screen, easier to follow than other GPS apps and devices Ive use

Quit Working

This app worked for awhile on my Camry, then just quit linking. Tried deleting and reloading, but connection fails. No problems with other Bluetooth apps.

It has potential.

It has potencial but Toyota did not do anything to improve it, they just worried about 2018 Cars, my car is still new 2017, they should have made some improvements but they chose not to, I am disappointed with this last update, Toyota has a good reputation for Cars that last longer but not paying attention to the gps they provide is foolish and if they keep this mentally pretty soon people are going to start looking for different cars that offers better options.

Poor excuse of a link surprised Toyota would use this

Very very useless map to small and takes forever to get search field to clear

Very bad user interface!!! Not useful at all!

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I was so excited about this app when I picked up my car. Unfortunately it has proven to be a disappointment. 1. No directions to Canada 2. It defaults to the lower mileage routes even if those routes are slower! 3. Does not see all roads? 4. You can not get a close up view of the route! So you dont really see the roads you are on. 5. The voice is hard to hear. 6. The list of directions is on the passenger side making it hard to read them as the driver.

Absolutely abysmal for 2017 Lexus NX

Dont waste the space on your phone. Ive really tried to get used to this app and make use of it, but its just not worth the frustration when there are so many gps options out there that work efficiently and far more effectively. Scout app cant even find some of the local restaurants and stores for one. Its very slow to respond to commands on the car screen. If I start up the gps on my phone (bc its much easier to type in a location) the car doesnt acknowledge the destination already in my phone despite being linked. I get money is the culprit for this poor decision on Toyotas part, but its time to get with the times and allow drivers to connect their car screens to common GPS programs like google maps they already have and use (bc they are user friendly and work), and stop trying to reinvent this particular wheel. If they want to appeal to a younger demographic, theyre only hurting themselves by blocking more modern capabilities of ever evolving phones. Unlock the screens to just display google maps and the problem is solved. It can read DVDs and my music but not my GPS? Too big a company not to have this stuff figured out. LOVE the car, hate this app.

Needs A Lot

Not a good job. This app is supposed to be for those who are unfortunate - those who are not able to use the Toyota Entune app suite because the model/system of their car is not compatible with the app designed for it. The Scout GPS app is very limited. I tried to get it to show me where I was. What if I was lost? What if I needed help but did not know where I was? How could I tell the police or rescue team where I am? No way to do it. Then I tried to use the cars voice controls to find out where I was. That did not work either. The dumb thing kept giving me places to go, but would not tell me where I was. I tried several different ways of asking. But nothing worked. What kind of help is this? If youre going to make a high-tech car, then you should make a high-tech app, or at least one that does something useful besides showing you where you can buy a cup of coffee. I will never buy a Toyota again. Unless I want to punish myself.

Toyota can do better than this

This is the gps app that pairs with my new Toyota Avalon. An excellent car but for this pitiful app. I expected better from a company that makes excellent cars.
