Scout GPS Link App Reviews

I’m over 60 years old and after many years decided to get a new vehicle. I bought a new Rav just after Christmas. I was told this gps would work fine. I don’t write reviews, but after a week of voice training and reinstalling this app, it does not work. Once or twice it worked. It will not save your favorite places or even your home location. It loses its memory somehow. Doesn’t show live maps, even after plugging in my iPhone. I just can’t understand why such a large dealership would make such a huge mistake. It’s possible it’s software or firmware that could fix this, but don’t pay extra for this option.Like the other reviews it is the worst system I have ever used. I have an appointment with Toyota next week. If I would have known about this, I would have purchased a different make of vehicle. It makes me wonder, after paying over $30,000.00, if Toyota is trying to cheapen things up, maybe there’s other problems that will show up after some time!!!

Paid $42,500 for my new tundra , first new vehicle I ever bought and the navigation doesn’t even work very disappointed in Toyota I bought it last week and already thinking about going back to a Chevrolet !!!!!!!

This is the most complicated app I’ve used. Getting the phone to pair to the car is next to impossible. In the rare case that you do manage to successfully pair the app and the car then you have to carefully find your destination and get started without disconnecting and having to start over. I feel like Toyota really screwed up when they designed this. MAJOR FAIL!!!!!

Bought a 2018 Camry in Nov. and the entune 3.0 suite with Scout never worked properly and now not at all. We have spent many hours with increasing frustration over this issue including some 5 dealer service visits with many Toyota team members technicians, management, and sales. The entune 3.0 support line told us after hours of trying that there was a known compatibility problem with Apple iPhones and their continuing iOS improvements. Last years new iPhones are not on entune’s compatability list. Toyota needs to fix this situation and not leave customers hanging with building frustration, and soon.

This app hasn’t worked in 2 weeks, since the last iPhone IOS update. I assume they’re working on it but there doesn’t seem to be a fix anytime soon. If you have a choice the best advice is look for something that works and offers better customer service.

It is not the worst possible navigation—that would be “drive out to the middle of a bridge and turn left.” But Shart GPS ranks up there in the anals of bad direction. It will fail to identify nearby addresses when asked ...repeatedly. It will take you on long and fanciful excursions to avoid intersections that it thinks (wrongly) are impassable, and some of those “intersections” are smack dab in the middle of straight lengths of interstate highway. And that’s assuming it manages to connect to the Entune unit in your car at all, which it fails to do about half the time. On the bright side, when it fails to connect its navigation advice worsens only slightly.

I am having same problems as everyone else seems like. The Toyota dealer today told me that there is an issue with the current operating system for iPhones which is not allowing Scout to work when tethered to phone. He informed me that Toyota is aware of the issue and asked me to be patient. He continued to tell me that it could be a couple weeks or it could be a couple months.

THIS APP DOES NOT WORK. I HATE MY NEW 2018 CAMRY HYBRID AND WANT TO SEMD IT BACK. TOYOTA, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS??????? MAYBE A CLASS ACTION SUIT BY A GOOD NEW JERSEY LAWYER WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION. IT WILL NOT BE HARD TO GET MANY ON BOARD. WHY ARE YOU SCREWING US WITH THIS CRAP??? TRYING TO BE NICE BUT NOT FOR MICH LONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very disappointed with Toyota!!!!! Scout App is not worth anything. New 2018 Camry and a crappy, unusable navigation system!!!!! Wonder how navigation works on a Honda Accord???!!!!

Actually created a website about it (with videos) after hitting dead end after dead end. Purchased a 2018 Camry with Scout GPS Navigation. Needs to be fixed, but the dealerships not taking responsibility. Check out scoutgpslinkstinks.com for the videos.

Toyota would allow an app to turn there 2018 design to be a joke. I thought I like my car but every day I put my phone in this car I am reminder how terrible this scout app has ruining the experience.If I can rate a -1 I would Toyota you should recall this Navi and give everyone a true active Navi system.

The absolute worst!! I sometimes works sometimes crashes . A free app on my phone work about 200 % better. My advice is do not buy a car that uses this miserable nav system Toyota Lexus should be ashamed

It’s simply crap. Doesn’t work, drops link to phone at random and with great frequency. App is a shell of a real navigation app. Don’t waste your time with it, use Google maps or even Apple maps on your phone.

Toyota went with this app! Say Apple CarPlay. Please offer a zero for rating as an option for this App. LOL - worst app ever for GPS.

Still no full map feature due to “technical problems” and all posts after Dec 23 have been taken down by Scout GPS.

Have 2017 Lexus rx350 non navigation. Followed all directions exactly. Blue tooth on and connected to vehicle. The scout link app is running on my phone and Navi connect is on. Using iPhone 8. The screen on vehicle says “phone app not detected. Please ensure scout gps link is running on your phone”. If the company can update the app and it will work than I will change my rating to 5 stars! Otherwise for now this app is garbage.

Toyota uses a crappy Gps system ! Why not Apple Play? Entune and Scout are a waste!

The app almost never connects. I have to delete and reload, then it will work until the next time. The implementation when it does work is ridiculous. No moving map? Just turn by turn? Totally worthless. My salesman told me this was awesome. It’s a piece of junk. So disappointed

Worst app. Does not connect to my Toyota Corolla. No proper instructions.
