Terrible Performance

I have been a great Toyota fan for many years but their decision to use this app for navigation is terrible. I was told by the salesman how great it was and how it would constantly update POIs. Was that a lie! This app is almost totally useless. I’m considering buying a replacement already which is ridicules since I haven’t even made the first payment on the 2018 Highlander I just purchased in December 2017!!! I hope Toyota addresses this issue immediately. Signed disappointed in Texas.

Unreliable

When it connects, it works ok. Unfortunately that is around 5% of the time. The rest of the time, you have to restart the app, try to get it to reconnect, or even restart your phone. I find myself pulling over to get it to connect. If I am in a hurry and need directions, I don’t even bother to try, just use maps on my phone.

Toyota should be ashamed

The app is useless because it is completely unreliable, disconnects repeatedly, continuously selects default of “no highways”, and phone app is unusable when connected to the vehicle. Toyota is misrepresenting their product with this partnership. They should be held liable for replacing it with a viable solution.

It is awful

I would rather Toyota focus on making better cars rather than trying to take over Apple CarPlay or android auto. The software is a piece of crap is putting it mildly

Horrible

Worthless piece of junk. Have spent hours trying to get it to connect and work. Nothing happens. Spent over $30k for a new Camry and it has NO onboard nav system. How can Toyota put such crap out on the market? If I could rate it a -5 Stars, I would

Wait for app update

I was told to wait for Toyota to update the app. Toyota, please hire more programmers or pay them more money ASAP! My 2018 Camry is 5 days old. What a horrible experience. I spent 2 days trying to solve it before I finally brought it into the dealer for help. I wish they warned me. Mine was the 3rd car of the week to report this issue.

The worst

The worst navigation platform I’ve ever used. The standalone unit I got for $99 from a RadioShack ten years ago worked better than this. And why do I need a usb tether to get the map on my screen? You realize people are driving when they hear the prompts yeah? The worst.

Using a paper map is better and more current

Scoutgps stinks. I am buying a tomtom. It is worth it to get a separate unit to get good service. Plus for scout the updates are sketchy at best. I work and drive Baltimore. The gps tries sending me down the wrong way of one way streets. This app is a wait of time and data

Junk

Just dreadful.

Abysmal

This app is an embarrassment to Toyota and TeleNav. It doesnt always connect to the phone — while other functions such as Bluetooth audio, phone, and messaging work just fine — and, thus, is sometimes unavailable to use. The routing is horrible. Sometimes, directions arent given or are given late. While sitting at my home, it displayed that it would take 9 minutes to get home (huh!?). The routing is often inefficient and rerouting is hit and miss. A map only displays intermittently during routing. GPS navigation isnt new. Theres no excuse for this subpar app. Horrible.

Wow - worst app ever!!!

If there was a way to give less then 1 Star I would - uncompetitive and I would have not bought this car if I knew it was such a poor product.

Mediocre Navigation, Dubious App

My previous review made Scout GPS sound like the crappiest navigation app possible without actively planning the user’s demise. In light of recent developments, my attitude has shifted for the better ...however slightly. My initial complaint was that it seemed so highway-phobic as to be useless for anything but the closest trips. The answer to that problem was in the route settings, where a control labeled “Highways” and was turned on and should’ve been labeled “Avoid Highways“ and should’ve been turned off. Given the control below is actually labeled “Avoid Tolls,” the mistake seems a logical and obvious one to make. And so it goes. That one correction is helpful, but it shows how much polish this app still needs. And, once I had that cleared up, it gave much clearer directions, albeit still almost comically wrong in spots, like that one-way street it wants me to take the wrong way. There also doesn’t seem to be a good, fast way to report these problems, either. The fact that this app is required to get navigation from the Toyota Entune system really just adds insult to injury; the app itself may be free, but I got it to make use of a VERY expensive peripheral. It doesn’t show live positioning when it’s up, it frequently has connectivity issues, and there’s no way to change settings like “(Avoid) Highways” or “Avoid Tolls” or “(Avoid) Carpool Lanes” while it’s connected. Advantage: Siri and Maps, amazingly. Seriously, have you tried ‘em lately?

Dissatisfied Customer

This is one horrible app. For the price of a Toyota Tundra, Toyota should be punished for having such an inept system for navigation. Booo!

Why Scout neither Toyota is doing anything about it?

Everyone knows is not working .... everyone knows about code 200.1.0 I had bad experience purchasing my 2018 Highlander ... now this ??? I spend $40,000 and still nothing ??? Omg ...

Worse app

Hardly works and that’s with deleting and then down loading it again. What a mess!!! Stick to your own GPS.

Would Give 0 Stars if I could

Doesn’t work on iPhone + Lexus. Wish would’ve bought a car with CarPlay.

Atrocity

This app is an atrocity and should never have made it out of production. It never works correctly. It’s sad when an app makes you regret your car decision.

Scout is worthless

Bought a new truck in 2017 and Scout has never worked Waste of money/time

Doesn’t work with 11.2.1 iOS

If you have a Camry 2018 SE and a IPhone with software 11.2 the GPS will not work as soon you plug in the USB cable. ?

Toyota on its way to become next Nokia

This app is just a crap. Forget about comparing it with CarPlay or android auto, this app doesn’t even work. Either it doesn’t connect or crashes midway. Unless Toyota cope with CarPlay, they will soon repent for their mistake.
