Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Doesn’t work period!

This never works as advertised! It never connects to the car... always a communication error. This needs to be fixed ASAP....you pay 40 to 50k for a 2018 NX and one of the next standard features of the new model year is completely non functional.

Regret buying Toyota

Don’t be conned into thinking this is a decent GPS alternative. Toyota has dropped the ball. You need to have your phone connect Bluetooth and USB to get any visual aid. It’s at least 10 year old technology, and Toyota greed doesn’t care. Complete it ignorance, or Toyota simply doesn’t give a crap about their customers. I regret buying my 2018 Toyota Camry, and it only had 150 miles on it. Do yourself a favor and buy a vehicle fo a company that cares. P.S. if you think Toyota is the most reliable, look them up on carcomplaints.com. I’ve already had to trade exchange a brand new Camry for a replacement because the 1st 2018 Camry had major transmission problems off the lot. I researched it and it is a known major problem. Bottom Line: No good reason to buy a Toyota.

Won’t get you there

Wow, I’ve had some bad apps but this one takes the cake. I tested this POS on a familiar 10mile drive on the freeway. My exit was 1/2 mile away, but the app told me it was in 2 miles. I took the exit and turned heading another direction and it didn’t reroute. 3 turns and 2 miles later it told me to take the exit. I was about a block from my destination by that point. Worthless.

Shame on TOYOTA

Ditto the worst reviews!!! I’m happy that I came here. Since I honestly thought it was me! I couldn’t suspect that a company as reliable as Toyota would have this Nursery School level system! WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THEY THINKING! Keep WAZE on your phone and forget about this Garbage.

Terrible functionality

They need to step up their game. Is not user friendly, no voice control, does not do anything helpful.

Terrible

Have to login Every. Single. Time. I try to use it.

Doesnt work with ios11.2

New Camry hybrid. Will not work if connected with usb for the moving maps. Their support has a faq on their website which says Toyota is aware and working on fix. No eta. They suggest only use with Bluetooth but no maps are visible. Toyota really messed up by not having carplay. Wait until we have to pay $25/yr for this .

Terrible.

Who made this or thought of the idea of scout? It barely works. Maybe 1 out of the 7 days it works when I drive. Doesn’t save my home as my favorite. It gives the do not show again option but always shows that same annoying screen. Worst decision ever by Toyota. My car has 1k miles and I want to sell it

Useless

Completely useless. Either can’t “complete request” or can’t find network, or some such thing. I’m very angry that the car manufacturers decided to go with a piece of hardware that depends on a phone.

Just give us CarPlay, already

This app is awful. Toyota should be ashamed of themselves. This app never remembers my home or work. I have to log in everyone I use it. I have given up on this POS. I am just going to use my phone and hope Toyota gives up on this and upgrades us to CarPlay like other companies has done.

No Good!!!

Complete Garbage!!

Pure crapware

Both the dev team and product manager should be drawn and quartered. This app rarely connects in my 18 tundra. Toyota needs to stop developing this nonsense (who needs yet another nav app?) and just license Apple play and be done with it.

Useless

Absolute worst navigation on the market. Just traded in my Bmw to save some cash on a Lexus lease and was told to skip the Navi since Scout was apparently decent. What a joke. Horrible connection, crap displays. I’d be embarrassed to show anyone this in a Lexus. Google maps all the way.

Never connects!

Have tried well over a dozen times to use Scout on my new RAV - EVERY SINGLE time I try, it says it can’t connect - try again later!! Really?? I need the f-ing directions when I need them!!!! Not later! ?

Try to get it to sync with my Toyota Tacoma

Very frustrating knowing you have a new truck and can’t use the navigation system because it won’t sync. Is this a Toyota problem or an app developer problem ? Please talk to us that are having this issue.

Total disaster

I love my new Toyota Camry. This navigation system occasionally works when used with ToyotaEntune. If you loose cell signal, you are done. Unplug and reset the full system. Loss of cell signal does not happen unless you are doing something foolish like driving. In Toyota’s brilliance, they require 2 apps to work together??? ToyotaEntune integrates with scout to work together. Should you check your phone and change apps, reset the system It does not work in wireless (Bluetooth) mode.

No thanks...

When it works, its barely on... Most of the time, I cannot connect to it... Toyota needs to work on a better option...

Doesn’t work

I would give it a zero but It only goes to one

Terrible app

Fully agree with the previous comment. This app is terrible. Don’t use it at all. I’m wondering why Toyota put this app in their cars instead of Google Maps or similar.

Don’t download for your car! Reporting this app!

This app is terrible once you get it to actually work. I didn’t think Toyota could go and make navigation even worse than they already had in their vehicles, I guess I was wrong. This app does not allow for location services to be set to only while using the app. If you do it does not allow you to use the app at all, this should be removed from the App Store completely. Toyota dealerships are trying to push people to download and install this, do not do it. You will just have to delete and uninstall the app from your vehicle and your phone.
