Scout GPS Link App Reviews
Not Amazed
I am amazed at how many times this thing quits when you need it the most not happy
Won’t be using
Doesn’t show a map and if you need to look at something on your phone it stops working. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Will continue to use Waze on my phone instead. Take some examples from Waze. That’s the best GPS app out there.
Won’t connect
App endlessly searches for a Bluetooth connection and the phone has already been paired with the system
Just bought a Rav4. Like the car. Hate the GPS. I understood it would only work with your phone which was OK until I really tried to use the app. Have to open the app on the phone and the car. Often link doesn't connect. Voice recognition is awful. Display cannot be altered to full screen. Local streets are not visible. Just use Google on your phone. Too bad. I'd like to know if Toyota/Scout plan on any improvements for those of us stuck with this app.
2017 Tundra-Fooled like the rest.
First, any GPS on a vehicle not using an internal map but dependent on a phone app is nuts. What happens when I don’t have my phone, b/c I’ve not seen this work without it? Secondly, it’s horribly cumbersome and buggy when finding addresses. I’ve found I have to enter the address on my phone & hope & it sends to vehicle gps. Ridiculous and so out of date. Third, I’ve had to delete the app & try to reinstall b/c the vehicle mysteriously no longer recognizes the app on phone...even though every other Bluetooth feature works correctly. Disappointed and waste of a feature on vehicle. How abt Toyota issuing a recall to replace software with an internal one that actually works?
Poor
You have to improve the app .. It takes a long time to connect and it is not as simple to operate as the GPS that come in other cars and do not use the data on the phone. I do not feel good using it. If for some reason you forget the phone, then you do not have GPS .. For a company of that category, the system is very poor ... What happened?
What an unreliable, crappy app
Toyota should be ashamed of this piece of crap. It crashes regularly, has a terrible interface and not reliable enough to use.
Useless
I have never seen a more useless map. There are no streets except for the most major roads like interstate major...it’s blank. No detail!!! C’mon...I could make a better app and I know NOTHING about app development. You should be embarrassed to offer this!!
Worst GPS ever created
The main problem with this app, other than maps that are not always updated, is that it doesnt connect to the car. Its frustrating how many times Ive tried and tried and it just doesnt connect. To the developer, fix this stupid connection problem or the bad reviews will continue.
Holding phone GPS again
I just purchased a 2018 Camry with everything. I absolutely love this car. It is so disappointing to have such a horrible GPS. It rarely connects. I have to keep the screen of my iPhone on when it is working. I spend more time trying to set it up than most trips take. I would rather have the crappy internal GPS from my 2013 Prius. I’m back to holding my iPhone using google maps. Does Toyota see that the ratings for this app is 1 star. Which really is the same as zero because 1 is the lowest option. I wish we could get an update about what is being done to fix this issue instead of the form letter from Sal Yanez.
Worst Nav Program in a US or Foreign Car Today!!!!
I cannot believe Toyota even thought to engineer this into their line of autos. Actually, I wouldn’t even car this software engineering! 1. Cannot have map full size on screen. 2. Cannot have map on screen w/o entering you want to go from point A to B. 3. Cannot change map scale. 5. Cannot change map from North up to driver/car head on direction. 6. Recalculating first offering is make a U-turn. Useless. 7. Very clumsy user interface. No options. 8. Cannot shut off voice commands. In all, if I could give Scout GPS by Toyota a negative rating number, I would. It’s that bad. I’m about ready to purchase a Garmin or Tom-Tom GPS Nav system & put it on my dash or front window.
Scout GPS Link
Hate it!! 1 star is really just a good will gesture. Never connects & I can never just see map in display on my car. This is the only option on my Toyota-will not be using.
M
Very disappointed came installed in my new 2027 Toyota Sienna gps is very slow Poor map It’s a wait of money.
Useless app
It’s awful! Practically useless!
Sal Yanez
This review is directed to Sal Yanez. Mr Yanez I keep reading that you appreciate every ones feedback on this worthless app. My question is what are you doing about it?
Worst app ever
I can’t get this app to even link up with my car half the time...
Total piece of junk!
I cannot believe this is the navigation system we are stuck with in our 2018 Camry XLE. It takes 4 or 5 tries to link up and you have to do it every time you stop. Awful for a trip. No upcoming exit info, no speed limit info, can’t see most street names. AWFUL!!!
Five star
Great app
I paid $1800 for a piece of junk optional equipment and will need to use Google Maps for reliable guidance, not happy!! Zero stars!
