Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Can not use map just to show my location

It’s a good concept however you can’t just simply tough the screen and use it to find your current location on the map. You can only use it to direct you. There are times if I’m driving I would just like a quick location check.

Brutal

Dont bother

Needs big time improvements

Very disappointed in this app. With Toyota Camry being the number 1 selling car for 15 years. With Toyota being one of the safest cars on the road then why in the world did they make an unsafe app and Entune system? I’m hoping Toyota gets this right. I depend on GPS with my job. I traded in a Ram with Uconnect and built in GPS and it worked flawless. With scout I have missed turns, it will start off slow like it has to warm up. Then I think it’s stupid to plug in USB to get maps. They need to do an update and if they can’t get scout right then make another app available. I’m using my phone now more than ever while driving trying to get directions. Scout GPS Get it right!

Does not stay connected

Doesn’t stay connected to Entune system in my Toyota Camry! App looks fine and would/should work to my liking if only it stayed connected to my car

Terrible App

This is the hardest app to navigate through. Definitely not a good app at all.

TOYOTA you screwed up

Every person from TOYOTA that thought this is a good GPS option should be fired for stupidity. Stick to making cars and leave the GPS to the experts. I hope you have plans to update and upgrade this thing because right now its a lemon.

Dangerous and Deceiving

I am severely disappointed in this so-called “navigation” app. As a long term Toyota customer, I really expected better from Toyota. The directions and locations are dangerously unreliable. I have purchased a mount for my gps and iPhone and do not plan to use Scout as a source source of navigation. Scout is the worst app, navigation or otherwise, that I have ever used.

Scout

Agreed, worst GPS EVER. 2018 Camry Hybrid LE makes me spend more time waiting for it to download/sync with my iPhone than any other GPS app. Then it often says “apps unavailable at this time”????? The directions are not current on some locations that relocated years ago. The verbal confirmations of the turns you made come WELL after you’ve completed the turn; it’s like the GPS lags with keeping up with the vehicle. Seriously thinking of getting rid of this car and I’ve been a Toyota owner for easily 8+ vehicles. I didn’t pay over $1000 to juggle my iPhone on my lap while using Google maps or Mapquest which are far better.

Your kidding

This is the worst of the worst. It would have to get better just to be useless. Really.

Very disappointed.

I bought a Sienna van 2 weeks ago, very happy with the van. EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this garbage called Scout GPS. It is finicky, fussy and DOES NOT WORK. Very disappointed with Toyota, a name associated with quality. Looks like customers have been complaining for a while but Toyota has been turning deaf ears. I wish I could get 500$ discount for the suffering I have gone through. I’m thinking about going back to the old iPhone holder for the dashboard and using Mapquest on my iPhone. Depressing.

Terrible

This app is terrible. If there were a better app capable with my Tacoma I would change.

Worst GPS app ever

I am so disappointed Toyota chose this app as their GPS platform. The app is useless and I will not be buying another Toyota after this one.

Not too good

I the idea of linking up with your Toyota is great, however weve experienced several connection issues where the car doesnt recognize the app. We usually get frustrated and just use google maps.

Bad. Just bad

Awful. That is all that needs to be said. No thanks Toyota. Love your Sierra hate your app.

Hopefully it gets better

I do not like that it seems I must keep my usb plugged in and the scout app on to get maps. It also is quirky about coming on. I find I end up using my iPhone map with Siri instead. I hope they continue to work on this and the entire Entune suite. It is clunky and does not work well with my iPhone. I.e. when taking calls and using Entune. Since the subscription doesn’t start until 2023, I am hoping for continued improvements. I love everything else on my 2018 Camry.

Its 2017, please update your maps!

Please!!

Works for me

Kinda crazy all these bad reviews. Scout gps link has worked flawlessly for me. My sales representative showed me in detail how it worked and it’s been great. Can’t wait for my next lease with even more features!

Lost Scout

As another reviewer has said, this is one of the worst apps and car gps systems that they or I have ever seen. Totally non-intuitive, difficult to set up map device. Extremely difficult to get a map view, turn by turn is infantile...for a Toyota product, it’s embarrassing...where is zero stars?

doesnt match to rav4

cant use it

Toyota messed up

This is the most horrible navigation app I have ever tried to use. Too rub salt in the wound Toyota decided to use this piece of garbage as their only Entune 3.0 app on the 2018 Camry and left the headunit as the brain as the car so no upgrades are even possible... Seriously considering trading this in already because of this navigation and lack of CarPlay integration. I’m touching my phone and headunit in the Camry more then Ive EVER has to do in our VW that has CarPlay. So much for added safety. Either they add in google/waze maps and easier iPhone/android integration or this Toyota will be our last and shortest kept car. The salespeople don’t even understand this thing and give false information. No Sirius and we find out later we can’t even add it without handing Toyota thousands of dollars, contrary to sales teams pitch.
