Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Why Toyota Why ???

Would rate less that one state if possible. 2018 Tundra Why can I not get just a real time map? I dont always have a specific destination sometimes I just want to know where I am and what road is coming up next. Is this to much to ask for. The Entune in my 2016 Tacoma was way better. Do not buy a Toyota with Scout GPS, I never will again.

Crap app

I can’t believe Toyota has selected this app to support their navigation systems. If I’d known this before purchasing my car, I would have thought twice. I’ve been able to use it once. Every other attempt, I get the message, Could not complete request. Please try again later. Even the OK button for this message is unresponsive. On top of this, the Bluetooth in my car is unresponsive, as well. Supposedly hooking my phone to the UBS port helps some. Regardless, Toyota needs to fix this ASAP. I’m really disappointed.

0 stars

It would be nice if it would be able to use Google maps or Waze also. Or just mirror the phone screen would be better yet

It’s all true!

It’s all been said! 0 stars! Just want to see the map while I drive. Text directions is just not safe! Talk about distracted driving! Avoid using Scout GPS!

Rarely works

I recently purchased a 2018 Rav4 and I was not looking for anything fancy, just turn by turn directions. This app simply doesn’t work.

Everyone said it all

All the negative reviews are basically my complaint!

Doesnt work

This app has so many issues staying connected its frustrating...If you get it to work, it will work for a while, but if you turn off the car, and go out again in a few hours, it wont work. Most annoying ever, cant believe Toyota approved this nonsense

GPS

I have this in my 2017 Tundra. Rarely works and I have to use a separate GPS what a waste of time. Toyota need to get it sorted out.

This app needs some work

App rarely connects. A great upgrade once it connects is being able to download local maps like google maps does so that it uses less data

Buggy...doesn’t work when needed...

The app is installed on phone and car, however it fails to connect after multiple attempts. I just give up and turn it off. I try it every few days to no avail.

2017 Tundra TRD with a crapy gps.

Give you the wrong way, if it does connect.

Lame, lame and lame

Too many clicks behind superior services like Waze Google and Apple Maps. Search function freezes up. Maps are too high level. Fail.

Scout GPS IS TERRIBLE

We have the Scout GPS system in our new 2017 Camry XLE Hybrid. We were not aware that it is not the same navigation system that we have in all the other Toyota’s we have bought. We bought this car for gas mileage and to travel because we live out in the country in Texas. Every time we take a trip we are furious with this system. What about the people that don’t have an iPhone? We have been loyal Toyota owners for years and now I wish we bought another brand. We have a Toyota Tundra also. It is not convenient at all. We didn’t question navigation when we bought the Camry because we were not aware of the change.

Doesn’t work

When I initially downloaded this app, with the lady who worked at Toyota and was going over features with me, it worked. Tried using it afterwards and it wouldn’t work, I keep getting the error that the request can’t be completed at this time. I realized it only worked again after I deleted and re-downloaded the app. I did the updates and sent feedback and it still doesn’t work. I bought a 2017 Toyota RAV4 XLE, I love what I got but it makes me wonder if I should’ve just gotten one with a navigation system. I was under the impression since it would work fine with the app I would be good to go since I’ve always used my phone for navigation through Waze or google maps. What a disappointment, it would’ve been nice to be able to use it on the screen, looks like I’ll have to find my old handy phone holder to navigate.

Attention is necessary for this Scout navigation.

It is dangerous to obey only the voice instruction of this navigation. Both instruction content to be displayed and voice instruction content are both too late or there are many mistake , so it is necessary to be careful. Low reliability. I think that this navigation should not be trusted.

Worst app

This is the worst app never works! Sent me on a dirt road for miles out of the way. Ended up almost were we started sent us in a circle.

Embarrassing

Toyota, You all should be embarrassed to have released this app. Why not just mirror the phone display? This is Atari’s E.T. bad. Case study in what not to do in 2017 with a navigation app. The mobile version is fine. The second control goes to the in-vehicle display, the app becomes completely useless and unreliable: directions lead in circles, unclear static display, froze directions, unable to mute voiceover directions.

Update doesn’t help

Just did the update to Scout GPS. Used the search feature to try it out. Searched a theater, and it came up with one that has been closed for about a year, didn’t even find the currently open theater. This has been a terrible app from the beginning, and doesn’t seem like the update fixed anything.

Most recent update broke the app!

The most recent update that included “bug fixes” made it so my car no longer detects the app. Tried reinstalling the app and repairing bluetooth to the car and it still DOESNT WORK!

Nice look but needs a lot of work

2018 Camry XSE V6. Once the maps finally pull up on the screen after multiple attempts the maps look good, but the lady’s words run together so you can’t understand what she says. It was off about 3 miles on a exit that has been in the same location for years.
