Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Just doesnt cut it

This application has shut down on me at least twice out of about 10 uses without any attempts to reconnect. It does not track the vehicle as accurately as google or Waze and this puts you in a compromising position if you have to make a turn in 2/10 of s mile or less. The reroute function forces you to go back to the original plotted route. This is IMPOSSIBLE when there is road construction, road closures or one way streets. Other GOS systems will reroute to avoid the area and get you back on course while taking the course you are headed. On 3 occasions out of the 10, my phone was active but the hookup of the car to scout didnt work. I resorted to google maps.

Horrible

This app is total garbage. If I can actually get it to connect it freezes up and is useless from that point. Toyota really screwed up putting their name with this junk app. Save your time and just use Google maps. Very frustrated and disappointed!!!

Doesn’t pair with car

Just leased a 2017 Sienna with a high trim level and didn’t even imagine there would be no on board gps with the “nav” option. The fact that I have to use cellular data to navigate in my brand new car is supremely disappointing...and that’s if it works. My 2014 Sienna had a nav installed that worked great. Too bad hey won’t make the screen pair with Waze, as that’s the only app I use now. VERY DISAPPOINTED that I have to use my tiny smartphone screen for navigation when there’s a perfectly large yet unusable screen on the dashboard. I’m scratching my head as to how and why this decision was made.

Not even nice IF it works

Do I have to give it a 1 star rating?? It should be ZERO STARS.I can’t really add anything that hasn’t already been stated, other than junk, junk, junk, junk! And plan on spending 10 minutes setting up each time you drive. Who has time? I’m either going to get a mount for for mobile or buy a cheap GPS that will work so much better than the cost of this piece of junk and did I say JUNK enough times?

Scout Gps link very bad

Can’t believe Toyota signed up for this. Never works with my Lexus. Not happy. Google map is better.

Wouldn’t have bought 2018 Camry if I’d looked at this first.

Have a ‘18 Camry XLE. This is truly junk. Works infrequently, and a pain to set up each time. Buy a (Non-Toyota) car with CarPlay or something sensible. Toyota REALLY cheaped out here....

LEXUS conned Me : Wd not have purchased RX350

I am heartbroken. Lexus Newport Beach sold me RX350 2017 new, with Scout Navigation. Navigation fails in nearly every instance. Tech Specialist observed it failing, yet was rude & unhelpful. Afterwards, my salesman and another tech spec saw it fail, and said "they are working on an update." It is a lemon without navigation. I would have made another choice of vehicle had I known navigation does not work. Simply sick over this! Buyer BEWARE!

Appalling!

Had I known what a piece of crap this Scout GPS Link and the Audio system’s retarded functions were, I would NOT have bought my Camry. I would have kept my Lexus!!

Worst EVER!!!

I totally agree with the previous review. This is a piece of garbage. The sales people lied about the Nav system in every way. I was trying to go to Phoenix from Bakersfield and when I got to LA this stupid thing had me going in circles & heading back to Bakersfield! Also I can never get a weather report or highway conditions anywhere. Thank goodness I have my iPhone @ Google maps. It’s useless to even try to get the dealership to fix it or know anything about the navigation. I want my Kia Sportage back I never had a problem with it I’m so disappointed in Toyota!

Wow Toyota Horrible

I thought Toyota technology in our 2016 4Runner was great but my new 50th Anniversary Corolla technology especially the Scout GPS is the most horrible maps technology of all. Wow Toyota you should be ashamed. If I could give 0 stars I would

Occasionally works

In 2 weeks of trying daily I got Scout GPS to work twice on my 2018 RAV4 rental car. Decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Glad I didn’t pay for it.

Scout

Great app

Nice when it occasionally works

We have this app on our 2018 Toyota Camry XLE four-cylinder hybrid. It actually works about 20% of the time but only if you open Toyota Entune and open Scout and leave it open and hardwire your phone to the charger plug. Most of the time it just doesn’t go on anyway. It really looks great on the rare occasions that it actually works. I wish it worked more often. The display doesn’t show some basic things that you would expect like the speed limits and any hazard warnings. We didn’t realize that there is no navigation installed in the Camry hybrid XLE with the “nav” package that we paid for and this is true for all Camrys the only way to get them installed now is to order the nav package for the six-cylinder engine which we did not want. I’ve spoken with some Lexus owners and they tell me it’s just as bad on their vehicles and Toyota acknowledges that Scout is a big big problem.

Worst app ever

Got the 2017 Lexus ES350. Didn’t get the gps system because the salesperson said that the car could use this app. Big mistake! I’ve never rated an app before but this one is so bad, I can’t resist. The voice recognition is useless and don’t bother the type in the address or name of the place unless you have 20 minutes to kill. So clunky!!! I would give this 0 stars if possible. Spend the money and upgrade to the factory installed gps.

I wish I had something new to add here, but I've had the same problems with this that most others seem to be having. I'm appalled that Toyota thought this would be a good idea.

Sal Yanez

This review is directed to Sal Yanez. Mr Yanez I keep reading that you appreciate every ones feedback on this worthless app. My question is what are you doing about it? Ok so just did the update. It’s still junk. Keeps saying I’m on one street when I’m actually on another. On freeways it just shows I’m on random streets. Jesus can this get any worse?

Amen the worst ever

Toyota should be ashamed of this horrible product. I wish Toyota leadership would understand this cheap quality app and people’s perception on their product. If they did, they would get it right.

Finally working good

After multiple back and forth email from scout gps link, the app finally works great. The apps connects from my phone to the car before I even get settled in the car. Direction and timing is perfect. Thanks for hearing me out. Five stars

Negative star for Scout used by Toyota cars

This is an application that doesn’t work. Why does Toyota allow this in cars, very unsafe.

Useless

I remember when Apple first released Maps as a GPS app. It was a piece of garbage next to others on the market. Scout would’ve made the original Maps seem like the gold standard in GPS technology. I NEVER use it in my RAV4. I love my car, don’t get me wrong. Too many other great things about it. But this? Toyota, you’re too good of a car company for THIS!!! Bad mistake!!! Bad, bad, bad!!!! Scout, leave GPS development up to the big boys that know what they’re doing. Too much attention needed to your app rather than the driving. That’s bassakwards.
