Scout GPS Link App Reviews
Bad App
Mix scout
The absolute worst!! I sometimes works sometimes crashes . A free app on my phone work about 200 % better. My advice is do not buy a car that uses this miserable nav system Toyota Lexus should be ashamed
Doesn’t work
Easily the worst app I have ever downloaded. Toyota should be ashamed to use this in their cars. If you are looking for integrated nav in your car, then look elsewhere.
Can’t connect to my Toyota
I recently purchased my Toyota Camry and and I have been trying to connect the app to the cars Entune system. I really don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but I have been trying to connect it for the past four days and the app just doesn’t show on the Entune screen. I have watched videos on YouTube on how to connect the phones app to the car, but never get the update update option on the cars screen and it just won’t connect. The app itself doesn’t offer much help. I selected the help option, and it only says that it’s connected to the car... it has just been a waste of my time.
Map database is out of date
Toyota would be better off incorporating Apple CarPlay into their vehicles.
Embarrassing!
It’s a piece of crap. You think at $37,000 out the door Toyota would use an app that does the job. Instead you get this! I’ll be using Google Maps.
Doesn’t work
I can’t even get it to connect to my car
Doesn’t load actual map
Upset because it costs more to have on my 2018 Camry and he actual map never loads.
Lacking in features. Disappointing.
I was hoping I could use the Scout to replace using Waze since it connects to my truck, but Scout lacks features of other GPS and is not nearly as accurate. I use the real-time traffic and routing feature in Waze on a daily basis. The Scout database(s) seem to be outdated for destinations and require more specific search parameters. Arrows for directions are too generic to be helpful. It does not show actual road path, just a generic left/right/straight arrows. Road names may not be available at times and Exit numbers off highways are not available. Selecting audio directions off in the app does not keep them off. From your phone, You have to turn voice directions off, enter your destination then sync with your car or else the voice will be turned back on.
Scout GOS - Does it Work?
Works, doesn’t work, works, doesn’t work. This app is very unreliable but when it works it’s OK.
Doesn’t work.
It works on my phone, but doesn’t link to the car, or does for a second and then crashes. Toyota should be embarrassed.
Poor app. Never work
Never work in my Toyota Tundra 2017.
Piece of junk!
Can’t get it to do anything on my 2017 Lexus RX350. I do not understand how Toyota and Lexus can continue to produce great cars with absolutely crap GPS systems!
Lexus owner
Really disappointed in the navigation system the Lexus provides. From being a BMW owner I feel like the system is a downgrade with no beneficial uses with the app. Since I purchased my vehicle about two months ago the app has only connected once. Let’s get real just Waze it, it’s something more reliable than and free. I’m paying way too much for this vehicle not to be top of the line.
Big disappointment
I was told by my dealer that I had to have my phone plugged into USB to get real time maps. Sadly that is the case. I also have issues with the voice volume being too low when running music at the same time. I’m hoping that this scout app will be updated with some serious bug fixes. Sometimes N-Toon does not want to recognize scale is being open, and there are issues with scope will not work properly.
Why is this being installed as nav. On 50k dollar vehicles?
Just bought a 17 tundra with this garbage app that doesnt even try to function properly. Hoping the folks at Toyota find a resolve and new app to install asap.
HORRIBLE APP
I would give this app zero s stars if you could...it NEVER works!!! Lexus, why wouldn’t you partner with Google or Apple Maps??! Great car with a POS navigation app.
Pretty good
I really like Scout. Only issue is when it or my phone updates. It drops me or all previous locations. Otherwise great
Terrible, buggy, costly to use
It is the only complaint I have about my new Toyota. This app is just the worst, and is the exclusive app for Toyota. It uses data at an enormous rate, yet works only some of the time. If I could hit it with a rock, I would.
Worked the instant I uploaded it....and that was the last time it worked.
I uploaded this app unto my Rav4 to try an easier to read alternative through the Entune system than just having Google Maps through my phone. Worked fine when I uploaded it and tried it out. Upon getting to my destination, shutting the car off, and then starting my car back up, the app now doesn’t connect to the car. Tried everything and the app refuses to connect to the car. Shortest amount of time I have held onto an app. Sticking to old reliable Google Maps. Do yourself a favor. Save yourself the trouble, open Google Maps, go to Settings, Navigation Settings, turn on “Play voice over bluetooth” and “Play as bluetooth phone call” and google maps will run through your radio while you can listen to your music. You don’t need this useless app.
