Scout GPS Link App Reviews

Good program missing things though

This is a great program but has some flaws 1. You have to keep it open on the screen to use the overhead view should be able to run in the background 2. Doesnt allow you to pin point a spot on map like if you pull into a unknown area you cant tell it to mark this spot here and call it something 3. Also need ability to let it know the road is not available so can reroute. 4. And need more categories in the near by menu like airports, parks and other things 5. Also ability to say take only highways on this trip or quickest way or shortest time or shortest way There are a few more but will state them later

Poor app

I’ve followed the directions multiple times as I’ve installed this app several times. It just does not work.

I cant believe with all the options Toyota picked this

Its slow to respond, bad speech, crashes sometimes when it starts navigating. I am going back to my Garmin on top of my dash.

This app really needs a rewrite!!

I installed for use with my new cat. Really poor controls. Very difficult to set up locations especially with the car on. They really need to make a more intuitive interface and think about heuristics rather that what they feel works. Staying with my Waze app

Won’t connect to a brand new 2017 TRD Tacoma

I’ve tried multiple times to connect to my new truck and no dice. Attempted Bluetooth resets on the truck and iPhone as well as deleting and reinstalling the app on my phone and also doing a factory reset on the truck. Pretty lame.

Disappointing

The app would be good if it was powered by reliable maps but unfortunately it appears not to be the case. I have a brand new car and in 2 days have encountered many "unnamed streets" that are in fact busy thoroughfares, confusing and last minutes instructions for turns and failure to recognize traffic circles that were very clear using Google Maps the day before. I also dont like losing all my saved prior destinations. I think this app could be good but falls short.

Huge disappointment

Paid for mid-level Entune Suite on my 2018 Camry only to discover that SCOUT is totally undependable. Would say it fails to function 90% of the time. Bad enough that Entunes doesn’t support ApplePlay or Google Maps, but then to be stuck with this GPS junk. Very unhappy with SCOUT.

Agreed! This is so unreliable!!!

Latest App Update/iPhone 8 renders Scout useless

App update is not operating smoothly with iPhone 8’s Bluetooth 5.0. The head unit app on my 2017 Highlander doesn’t easily recognize the phone, and causes a blank Scout screen on the head unit when this occurs. The update DOES work with my iPhone 7. A new app update is required to allow the iPhone 8 and 8 plus to properly interface with the head unit. Until an update is released that addresses this issue, Scout will not work reliably for iPhone 8 / 8 plus users.

Doesn’t work

This app is so mean don’t read the map and also is not accurate with the satellite and route is not good toyota has to work with a different company

Why have to give constant permission

Most apps can give permission once while using. This one requires it every time get in vehicle and then tries to open the app and ask for ratings. So here’s your rating.

Horrible

This scout gps is mess. It does not work right. It does not keep accurate time of your destination. It does not give you good turn by turn info. Just horrible!

Pathetic

Not much help navigating on my phone or in my Toyota

Excellent App!

IDK what’s with all the negative reviews, maybe it was about earlier versions of this app. I’m a fan of using Apple maps on my iPhone for gps but am buying a 2018 Camry which uses the scout app from your phone to display on the car’s dash screen. I’ve been testing out this app and it does everything that Apple maps does, turn by turn directions, rerouting, ETA, etc. works like a charm!

Worst app for my car’s navigation

This is one of the worst app for my Toyota rav 4 navigation system. Toyota is too cheap about the navigation system. I will rate it 00 zero, just waste of time. I will recommend others to use google map instead of using scout GPS link. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Update it so it can show the direction in better way.

After Upgrade my iPhone 6 to IOS 11.0.01, this application does not work at all. Very upset. I do not understand how the new 2017 Lexus ES 350 can advertise and have a deal with such garbage?

Bad

Y very bad this app

Poor excuse of a link surprised Toyota would use this

Very very useless map to small and takes forever to get search field to clear lots of link problems great idea but poorly excerised

Not so GPS!

This is one of the worst apps I have used. It can never tell where I am, it doesnt update according to current traffic flow or construction and is just plain awful. I cant believe Toyota promotes this app with the navigator installed in their vehicles. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Terrible, now with the app update and the new IOS the phone cannot connect to the app and gives me an error. It cannot connect at all.Toyota fix it! We paid enough for the car and this was a big selling point by the dealership and it is crap.
