Surprisingly--It Works Great!!
This may sound strange, but if you take the time to learn it, its a great GPS program! I had VERY low expectations for this app after reading all the negative reviews. We have a disc jockey service and travel to areas we arent necessarily familiar with so having a good GPS app is a must. I figured wed use this as a supplement to two other GPS programs on my phone. So far, it works well, shows a map with an arrow that updates as you drive, gives great turn-by-turn voice cues and two or three route options every time. There are a few quirks and I was initially frustrated but figured out how to make it work. The "keyboard" doesnt come up on the car display as it should so there is no way to type in a search address. It seems to show contacts instead of an address screen. However, you can easily use the voice recognition to enter that information. Just go into the Scout program on the car, touch the speech button on the steering wheel and tell it the address when prompted. It may ask if you would like a driving or walking route. Touch the driving option and it will show several routes with distances and arrival times and ask for the number of the route you would like. This is a great feature because some GPS programs dont give you the option of choosing the best route. Once you choose the route you would like, it will bring up a map and give voice assistance for the rest of your trip. It announces each turn well ahead of time with distances, gives estimated arrival time and lets you know when youve reached your destination. Scout seems to have everything other GPS programs have and a few extra nice features so Im happy! Well see how it does with a few more long distance trips but certainly right now, Id give it a four or five. Possibly others who didnt get a moving map and turn by turn prompts hadnt made all the route choices to actually start the program. Its not perfect by any means but I like it!
